Hanging bridges in Monteverde at a glance
This page is about Monteverde in Costa Rica, in the TilarΓ‘n mountains, not the towns of the same name in Italy or Uruguay. The cloud forest here is crossed by hanging bridges that put you up among the treetops. They are walks, not rides: you move at your own pace on a marked path.
Two private parks sell dedicated bridge tickets, and two trails inside the Monteverde reserve include a bridge. The parks are separate businesses with their own prices, hours and rules. Neither is part of the reserves, and this guide is independent of all of them.

Where to walk the hanging bridges in the Monteverde cloud forest
Three options for Monteverde bridges, from a full bridge park to a single bridge on a forest loop.
The park with eight bridges
Selvatura is a private adventure park near Santa Elena. Its walk across the Monteverde suspension bridges has 8 bridges on a trail of about 3 km (1.9 mi). It is open 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, 365 days a year, and takes roughly 1 to 1.5 hours. Our Selvatura page covers the whole park.
The park with six bridges
Treetopia is the park that used to operate as Costa Rica Sky Adventures Monteverde. Its Sky Walk has 6 hanging bridges and a combined path of about 1.7 miles (2.7 km). Anything you read about Sky Adventures at Arenal is a different site.
A Monteverde cloud forest bridge inside the reserve
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve lists a hanging bridge on its Heart of the Forest loop (2.8 km, 1.7 mi) and on the Continental Divide loop (4.1 km, 2.5 mi). You buy reserve entry, not a bridge ticket. See the cloud forest reserve guide.

A ticket covers only the activity you choose. A bridge ticket at Selvatura does not include the zipline or the animal exhibits, and Treetopia sells its Sky Walk, Tree Tram and zipline as separate items. The free entry for children under 4 at Selvatura is listed for the period 16 December 2024 to 15 December 2026. Confirm current prices and age categories when you book.
Selvatura Park tickets
Besides the bridge walk, Selvatura lists the canopy tour at $80 for adults and the butterfly exhibition at $25, each plus 13% tax and fees and each sold as its own ticket. The Selvatura page has the full list.
The Monteverde skywalk at Treetopia and its combo tickets
Treetopia lists the Sky Walk at $49 per person. The park also sells the Tree Tram at $59, the Arboreal at $69 and the SkyTrek zipline at $99. Its combination tickets are listed from $99 (Scenic: Tram plus Walk) to $149 (Full), with Explorer at $129 and Adventure at $139. Child prices and what is added on top, such as tax or platform fees, vary by booking page, so check the final price at checkout.
The park's website also promotes a glass bridge. Look at the current ticket description to see what it includes.
If you saw a bridge park advertised near La Fortuna and Arenal, that is Mistico, which sits at a different location and is not a Monteverde option.

Rules on the bridges
Selvatura asks visitors not to jump, sway the bridges or climb on structures. Do not feed animals, eat on the trail or shout, and stay on the marked path. Treetopia has its own rules, so ask for them at the park. In the Monteverde reserve, umbrellas are not allowed, so pack a rain jacket instead.
Getting to the parks
Selvatura lists a free hotel transfer when you book a bridge or canopy ticket and $7.50 per person otherwise. The service mainly covers hotels within about 2 miles (3 km) of the town center. Ask for the pickup confirmation for your specific hotel and product. If you would rather not arrange the ride yourself, a small-group Monteverde hanging bridges tour with transport is listed above, and the bridge park entry is paid separately. The road to Monteverde itself has changed recently, so read how to get to Monteverde before you plan the drive.
Bridges are a good wet-weather activity, but fog and rain change the view. Our weather guide explains the seasons. If you want to combine bridges with a zipline, see Monteverde zipline.
Monteverde hanging bridges: frequently asked questions
How many hanging bridges are there in Monteverde?
Selvatura has 8 and the Treetopia Sky Walk has 6. The Monteverde reserve has one bridge on each of two of its loops. Together that gives you several places to choose from, but you do not need to visit them all.
How long does a hanging bridge walk take?
Selvatura lists 1 to 1.5 hours for its 8 bridges. The Sky Walk path is about 1.7 miles (2.7 km), so allow a similar stretch of time. Add time for photos and for the park entrance.
Is Sky Adventures Monteverde still open?
The park now operates as Treetopia and describes itself as the former Costa Rica Sky Adventures Monteverde. Current Sky Adventures products at Arenal are not Monteverde tickets.
Is a hanging bridge walk suitable for children?
Selvatura sells child tickets for ages 4 to 11 and lets children under 4 in free when accompanied. The Sky Walk allows all ages.
Are the hanging bridges wheelchair accessible?
Treetopia describes only part of the Sky Walk as suited to wheelchairs and limited mobility. Do not assume the whole route works, and ask the park about your situation first.
Do the bridge tickets include other activities?
No. Each ticket is valid only for the activity you choose. Ziplines, tram rides and animal exhibits are sold separately, and prices listed for 2026 can carry tax or fees on top.
